LETTER FROM ISRAEL

Text Box: Wow, where do we start....... Aliyah, a dream come true !!

So much has been going on since we have left Hong Kong! We discovered a whole new life with a new home, new school, new shul. Having left that many friends behind, we were glad to make some new ones in Ra'anana, too. And find back old friends from Hong Kong who live here as well.  We found many welcoming homes and helping hands and that has been very encouraging. Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur weren't the same, we missed our HK family, shul and its beautiful tefiloth.

Text Box: For Sukkoth we built our first Sukka, shortly after we had our very first barbecue for Kevin & Liam's birthday,...

With the New year, Shnat Shmita arrived, so many laws surround it, it's not easy,...

Text Box: This year marks the 60th independance of the State of Israel and we are glad to be a part of it. The opening ceremony of the new school year was very emotional. Our kids were a part of it made us very proud. They have been making friends both with Israeli kids and other Olim Hadashim. They were well prepared to make the move and the transition has been quite smooth. Kevin, Orly & Liam go to a school called "Ariel", Michal doesn't go, she runs to Gan Tapuach and Noa, Snowy Nowy like the children call her has changed a lot, she's a smiley baby, funny, well a real full time job.

The community (Ohel Ari) we found in Ra'anana is very warm, too. There are A LOT of Olim Hadashim. They are busy building a new shul. Meanwhile, services take part in the sports hall of the school.  We've even found a group of friends where the husbands travel a lot & the women encourage each other morally!!

About Hong Kong and Ohel Leah: of course, it is ALWAYS at the back of our mind; SO MANY good memories. When people ask us where we come from, we answer "Hong Kong" with a huge smile.  It sounds a bit exotic to many people but to us, it still sounds like... home.

Love,

Sara, Stephane, Kevin, Orly, Liam, Michal and Noa
